Actors.

There have to be moments

when you glimpse something decent, something life-affirming even in the most twisted character. That's where the real art lies.

Martin McDonagh

Dear actors, without you, the play wouldn't happen. But we all need a little help; a mindful, outside eye. I trained as an actor and know what it’s like walking into audition after audition. As a director I have sat behind the table thousands of times. One single person does not have the magic formula; one single person does not know exactly what will book you the job. It is a mixture of effort, bringing your ‘A’ game, and that unquantifiable ‘edge’. I always say, if you believe you brought your best, the rest is out of your hands - you just can’t know what the director has in their mind, and the truth is it may change, maybe because of you. What I know for myself—I sincerely hope to be true of all directors—is that I want you to be great, I want to cast you, I want you to be the answer to my problem. Then my search is over.

If you want help, and wish to be a director’s solution, let’s work together. Please feel free to email me.
